It is crucial that all pedagogical staff are able to create an inclusive school ethos. Initial training plays a crucial role in the enhancement of prospective educators’ positive attitude towards inclusion, in imparting comprehensive knowledge on the phenomenon and in the development of skills, required for the working in inclusive settings. One of the fundamental factors of successful implementation of the concept of inclusive education into pedagogical practice is quality initial training of educators. The establishment of inclusive learning environment is a great challenge for educationists, schools and communities. In inclusive learning environments the appropriate conditions for learning are provided and students’ participation encouraged. Students; it is a process in which all students’ needs are met, their capacities developedĪnd aspirations respected. The concept of inclusive education refers to the provision of quality education for all This is a bilateral project conducted between University of Belgrade and Univeristy of Ljubljana, in both cases by Departments of Pedagogy and Andragogy. The overall impression is that while the teachers and schools are doing their best to help these students, numerous other options of implementing the principle of interculturalism are still available. On the other hand, the overall considerable sensibility of teachers, as well as their inventiveness in finding ways to include these students into the educational process is encouraging. A particular problem is treatment of students with immigrant background as students with special needs. The results indicate that there are certain deficits in the area of statistical data.

Largely neglected in Slovenia although data shows that an increasing number of students who enter this educational segment is of immigrant origin. The article summarizes the results of a pilot research that examined experience of teachers involved in teaching students of immigrant background in the field of vocational education.
